Accessories Checklist

If you have already booked a trekking package to the mountains of Nepal and are unsure about the essential equipment you'll need for your trek, don't worry! We have put together a comprehensive checklist for you to reference. You can make necessary adjustments to our checklist based on your personal needs and preferences. If you are unable to find some of the listed items in your hometown or are pressed for time before your flight to Kathmandu, don't panic! Most of the necessary equipment can be easily purchased in Kathmandu, as the city has plenty of shops catering to trekkers.

It's important to keep your luggage as light as possible for convenient travel, as a porter is available for two people carrying up to 25 kg maximum. So, keep this in mind when packing your bags!

Here's the checklist of equipment you'll need for your trek:

GENERAL

  • Duffel or Rucksack bag: We provide complimentary duffel/kit bags, but you'll need an extra big duffel bag/suitcase for non-trek items left at the hotel in Kathmandu.
  • Day pack: Approximately 20-22 liters.
  • Down Jacket: NHT will supply a complimentary down jacket which needs to be returned after the trek.
  • 4 Seasons Sleeping bag: NHT supplies a complimentary sleeping bag that needs to be returned after the trek.

HEAD

  • Sun hat or scarf
  • Light balaclava or warm fleece hat
  • Sunglasses with UV protection

FEET

  • Thin, lightweight inner socks
  • Thick, warm wool hiking socks
  • Hiking boots
  • Camp shoes (sneakers and/or sandals)
  • Gaiters for hiking in winter

HANDS

  • Lightweight gloves
  • Heavyweight gloves or mittens

LOWER BODY

  • Undergarments
  • Hiking shorts
  • Lightweight cotton long pants
  • Light and expedition weight thermal bottoms
  • Fleece pants (seasonal)
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell pants

UPPER BODY

  • T-shirts
  • Light and expedition weight thermal tops
  • Fleece Jacket
  • Fleece Wind-Stopper jacket (Optional)
  • Waterproof (preferably breathable fabric) shell jacket

ACCESSORIES

  • Headlamp (e.g., Petzl Zoom) with spare bulbs and batteries
  • Basic First Aid Kit
  • Large plastic bags - for keeping items dry inside trek bag in case of heavy rainfall on the trek if you are traveling in summer.
  • Trekking Poles
  • Water bottles
  • Toiletries (Small wash towel, toilet papers, etc.)

TOILETRIES

  • Toothbrush/toothpaste
  • Multipurpose soap
  • Nail cutter
